James Brown meets Jimi Hendrix, AJ Ghent takes super powered rock & soul on the road this Spring

"A lust-filled, swaggering, stormy slide-guitar playing front man who sings tales of heartbreak, betrayal and beauty, AJ Ghent is reminiscent of James Brown and Otis Redding as he bellows out funky rock. His guitar playing is a masterful mix of Jimi Hendrix, Albert King and Ben Harper." -The Chattanoogan

Merging the showmanship and soul of James Brown with the guitar wizardry of Jimi Hendrix, electrifying sacred steel disciple AJ Ghent hits the road this Spring with the AJ Ghent Band in support of their debut album/concert DVD Live At Terminal West (out April 7th on Blue Corn Music).

The Atlanta-based AJ is a singular talent, playing an electrified, fiery style of stand-up pedal steel. He plays custom-made eight-string lap steel and Telecaster hybrids with an overhand technique while standing up. You really have to see to understand how amazing it is! Fans will have a chance as AJ and his powerhouse band head out for a string of dates, with more being added. Creating a molten mixture of driving R&B, soul, funk, and rock n’ roll, the AJ Ghent Band captivates every concert audience.

AJ is a direct descendent of "sacred steel" legends. His great uncle Willie Eason was among those who popularized gospel lap steel in the early 1900's, and his father Aubrey Ghent tours the world playing lap steel for the Slide Brothers.  The AJ Ghent Band was hand picked by Zac Brown to open on the Zac Brown Band's 2013 U.S. tour and AJ performed on the Grohl Sessions Vol. 1. Additionally, AJ has been a member of Col. Bruce Hampton's band in the past, and has played alongside Gov't Mule and the Allman Brothers.
