Austin Lucas Is An “Artist To Watch” (Wide Open Country) – New Album Immortal Americans Out August 17th On Cornelius Chapel Records

Listen To The Title Track Here, Headlining Tour, AmericanaFest, Face To Face Tour Part Of Busy Fall

August 6, 2018 - Wide Open Country has labeled Austin Lucas an “artist to watch” in their latest round-up, on the strength of his upcoming album Immortal Americans (out August 17th on Cornelius Chapel Records). Co-produced by Lucas and Will Johnson (Centro-matic), and mixed/engineered by Steve Albini, it’s a clear-eyed record for murkier times, rooted in stripped-down, gothic heartland rock songs that find Lucas reflecting upon the changes in both his hometown and himself. It was captured in a series of live, full-band performances, the triumph of a man hitting bottom in myriad ways and finding the strength and sense of purpose to rise again.

Wide Open Country says:

“Austin’s signature mix of choir boy vocals, poetic lyrics, and punk rock journeyman’s attitude haven’t allowed Austin to net the brass ring. Immortal Americans will change that. It’s a collection of soul-baring songs from an artist who’s known for writing deeply personal lyrics. In it, Austin digs into his new relationship with sobriety, breaking up with his longtime record label, and supporting his partner through a battle with cancer. Now that Lucas is smoke-free, his voice is as supple as ever, perfectly conveying the heartbreaks and triumphs since his last release.”

American Songwriter says of the title track, “’Immortal Americans’ begins as a slow lament for outsiders and underdogs, before eventually building to a melodic anthem that celebrates those who transcended their outsider statuses to find community with like-minded, compassionate folks.”

The album release is part of a busy Fall for Lucas. He began a headlining tour last week, and will showcase at AmericanaFest in Nashville in September. After that, Lucas will head out as an opener on Face to Face’s “Hold Fast Acoustic Tour.”
