Charley Crockett Will Tape NPR Mountain Stage On July 21st, Make Grand Ole Opry Debut Next Week

Next round of U.S. dates include Newport Folk debut, Nashville, TN, Brooklyn, NY, Philadelphia, PA, Washington, DC; headlining European tour begins in August

June 20, 2019 – So far in 2019, Charley Crockett has undergone life-saving open-heart surgery, released a two-song 7” produced by Bruce Robison, made his Stagecoach Festival debut and completed a sold out West Coast run of headlining tour dates. Crockett’s big year will continue when his next round of headlining U.S. dates starts this Friday in Atlanta, GA. Next week Crockett will make his Grand Ole Opry debut, then he’ll tape an episode of NPR Mountain Stage on July 21st, alongside artists including John Paul White and Molly Tuttle. Crockett will also make his Newport Folk Festival debut on Friday, July 26th, a day that will also see Kacey Musgraves, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, Yola, Sheryl Crow and The Highwomen perform at the Fort. Crockett will also headline a sold out Newport Folk after show benefit that evening.

When Crockett released the Robison-produced “How Low Can You Go” and “River of Sorrow” 7” in March, Rolling Stone said, “typical of Crockett’s writing, ‘How Low Can You Go’ not only resonates with his own life, but transforms the hardship of its lyrics with its upbeat melody — something that’s even more true of the gospel cut ‘River of Sorrow.’ Here he leans into his Southern drawl while Fox’s accordion weaves in and out around him.”

Watch Crockett perform “How Low Can You Go” and new song “The Valley” at a recent KUTX live session here, and watch a stripped down performance of Vincent Neil Emerson’s “7 Come 11” recorded onsite at Pickathon last year here.
