“Alongside Chris Stapleton, Crockett is the most authentic, complete, historically important country singer songwriter of our time”

January 1, 2024 – Today, Charley Crockett and Willie Nelson release a new duet, “That’s What Makes The World Go Around.” The laid back two-beat swing was co-written by Crockett, Kullen Fox, Rich Brotherton and Taylor Grace. Crockett and Nelson trade verses throughout, telling the story of a woman pulled between late nights and simple pleasures like watching “children in the street / out there playing right up til night fall.”

“Willie called me up, said he was out at Pedernales cuttin’, and asked if I had any songs ready he could jump on,” explains Crockett. “I told him I had plenty. Hung up the phone, drove out to Billy Horton’s place, and wrote a couple on the spot. We fired ‘em off to Spicewood where he sang and took a ride on one that very next day. When I heard him come in singing on his first line, I shed a tear. Then his leads on Trigger hit, and I was crying!”

Crockett will hit the ground running in 2024. He’ll return to Australia for an extensive 13-date headline tour beginning January 27th. Ahead of the Australian tour, Crockett will play two shows at the 3,950 capacity Mission Ballroom in Denver, CO on January 18th and 19th. In 2024, Crockett has also confirmed appearances at Stagecoach, Moon Crush Festival, Buckeye Country Superfest, FloydFest, Two Step Inn, and Avetts at the Beach in Riviera Maya, Mexico with the Avett Brothers and other guests, among other summer festivals.

Crockett released his last full-length album The Man From Waco - which Rolling Stone named the #2 best Country album of the year - in 2022, and the momentum he built continued into 2023. Crockett made his NPR Tiny Desk debut, appeared on The Daily Show (interview + performance), and appeared on the June 2023 cover of Texas Monthly. Crockett performed at both nights of Willie Nelson’s 90th birthday celebration at the Hollywood Bowl in April 2023, and made his Bonnaroo debut last summer. Crockett also released The Man From Waco Redux, a companion to The Man From Waco featuring alternate versions of five songs, and Live from the Ryman, which documented Crockett’s sold out November 2022 debut at the Mother Church of Country Music.
