August 16, 2023 – As he prepares to release his Big Loud Records debut, Family Ties, on September 22nd, Charles Wesley Godwin has added another touring milestone. Godwin will join Luke Combs on his 2024 “Growin’ Up And Gettin’ Old” stadium tour, playing 13 dates total. Godwin is currently opening for Zach Bryan on his summer arena tour, and Godwin will start his own headline tour next month, including his first-ever headline show at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN on December 8th. Godwin also crossed a major streaming milestone last week, passing 100 million streams worldwide for his entire catalogue.
Family Ties, Godwin’s third album and first with Big Loud, is a portrait of home, of relationships, of lessons learned and lived. Perhaps most exciting, the 19-track release showcases a tunesmith at the peak of his powers — melding melody with memories, workmanship with wisdom. Godwin demo’ed the songs that would become Family Ties on a Tascam 4-track (thanks to his love for Bruce Springsteen’s seminal Nebraska) and then recorded them at one of his dream studios, Echo Mountain in Asheville, North Carolina, before he signed a record deal. He recorded the album with his long-time band, the Allegheny High, and long-time producer, Allegheny High guitarist Al Torrence.
The album, announced earlier this month, was met with a large wave of press praise, streaming support and social media excitement from his loyal and fast-growing fan base. Within 24 hours of Family Ties being announced, the pre-orders/pre-saves alone shot the album into the top 10 of the Apple Music Country albums chart. Godwin was featured on the cover of Spotify’s “Indigo” and Amazon Music’s “Brushland” playlists, and had new songs included in Spotify’s “New Music Friday” and “homegrown” playlists, and Apple Music’s “New Music Daily” and “Country Risers” playlists, among many others. The Family Ties announcement was met with a wide swath of press coverage – from Billboard to BrooklynVegan to CMT – and since the announcement, Godwin’s weekly streams have nearly doubled (from 1.8 million to 3 million weekly).
