October 5, 2023 – Charles Wesley Godwin’s new album Family Ties, his debut on Big Loud Records, has given the West Virginia-native his biggest sales week and best Billboard chart debuts to date. Family Ties opens at #9 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart, and debuts in the top 25 on the Current Country Albums (#17), Current Digital Albums (#14), New Artist Albums (#14) and Americana/Folk Albums (#25) charts. Godwin also debuts at #45 on the Emerging Artists chart, and Family Ties cracks the top 100 on the Top Current Album Sales chart at #99. Godwin also continues his climb at Americana radio, with “All Again” breaking into the top 20 this week on the singles chart, and Family Ties rising to #22 on the albums chart.

In January 2023, Godwin and his band, the Allegheny High, headed into Echo Mountain in Asheville, NC with longtime producer and Allegheny High guitarist Al Torrence once again at the helm. Two weeks later, they came out with the masterful 19-song Family Ties. The songs that comprise Family Ties are themselves portals into Godwin’s life — tuneful tales of the native West Virginian’s friends, family and foundation. Family Ties is an intimate affair — images set to tune, so many of them specifically created for his own family members. There’s the unflinching “Miner Imperfections,” penned for his father; the mournful and contemplative “The Flood” for his mother; the beatific “Gabriel” for his son; the mournful yet hopeful “Dance in Rain” for his daughter; and the love letter that is the slow-rolling “Willing and Able” for his wife.

Godwin is currently on the front end of a Fall headline tour that runs through the end of the year. Many of the shows are already sold out, including Godwin’s first-ever headline shows at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN on December 7th and 8th, and four shows in his hometown of Morgantown, WV December 14-17. In 2024, Godwin will join Luke Combs on 12 dates of his “Growin’ Up and Gettin’ Old” stadium tour. Godwin is also confirmed for the 2024 edition of Stagecoach and the first date of the two-day Buckeye Country Superfest on June 22, 2024 in Columbus, OH alongside Zach Bryan, Billy Strings, Turnpike Troubadours and Charley Crockett.
