David Crosby Taking “Great New Album” (NY Mag) Sky Trails On Fall Tour Beginning October 30th
October 24, 2017- David Crosby’s late career resurgence continues with his new solo album Sky Trails (BMG), his third in four years, which is being met with a wide swath of critical praise. Crosby and his ace band - his son (and Sky Trails producer) James Raymond on keys, Mai Agan on bass, Steve DiStanislao on drums, Jeff Pevar on guitar and Michelle Willis on keys and vocals – will take the album on the road for a 27-date tour beginning with a two show Chicago, IL run on October 30th and 31st.
In his eighth decade, Crosby is not only surviving, but also thriving personally and creatively. The album takes Crosby in a new musical direction as the set tilts toward a full band sound and deep, soulful grooves.
Watch Crosby and a nine-piece band perform Sky Trails single “She’s Got To Be Somewhere” earlier this year on the Tonight Show here. David recently spoke to NPR Morning Edition about the new album. Here's what else we've been hearing:
"Suggests that at age 76, David Crosby may be just warming up as a solo artist."
"What may be his most stylistically diverse and sonically lush solo album."
"An excellent batch of tunes to continue appreciating and enjoying his talents."
"You don’t find too many artists out there on the other side of 75 still plugging away and making new music. Practically no one of that age is laying down some of the best material of their careers. Then again, David Crosby isn’t like most other artists."
"He’s indomitable folk-rock royalty, with a six-decade career that is now somehow speeding up instead of slowing down."
"Great new album"
-New York Magazine Vulture
"These songs, masterfully written and delivered with obvious passion from one of America’s most veteran and idiosyncratic composers, show that Crosby is perhaps getting better with age and seems confident in his abilities as a singer and songwriter still willing to take chances."
“As hard as it would’ve been to imagine at one time, David Crosby is not merely a survivor; he’s making some of the best music of his life.”
