Dead Heart Bloom Preview Ambitious, Expansive New Music Produced By Mercury Rev’s Molina At Rockwood Stage 2 On July 17
June 13, 2013 - Dead Heart Bloom, the NYC-based trio who create ambitious, lofty anthems, will preview new songs at Rockwood Music Hall Stage 2 on Wednesday, July 17th at 7:30pm. The band has an innate ability to take well-crafted songs filled with strong melodies and memorable hooks and build them into epics. With soaring vocals, spaced out fuzz guitars and pulsing drums, Dead Heart Bloom push their music into a colossal space. Live, the band produce a wall of sound that more than fills the room, while always allowing the nuance within each track to shine through.
Working with Mercury Rev’s Carlos Anthony Molina, the band – songwriter, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Boris Skalsky, guitarist Paul Wood and drummer Jason Molina – emerged from Anthony's Kingston, NY studio with ten new tracks. Standouts include: “Montreal,” a dark, propulsive song that explodes into a manic synth enhanced chorus; “Strange Ideas,” which features gorgeous harmonies and melodies, all wrapped in fuzzed out guitars; “Wide Awake and Dreaming,” with a slow build that ends up sonically mimicking what it would feel like to be snapped out of deep slumber by jet engines.
