Lera Lynn Announces First 2019 Shows, West Coast Tour With Special Guest Thomas Dybdahl

October 30, 2018 - Lera Lynn released her new duets album Plays Well With Others on Single Lock Records earlier this year to critical acclaim, and today she announces her first tour dates of 2019, a run of West Coast shows in January 2019 with special guest Thomas Dybdahl. Lynn will wrap up 2018 with a month of shows in Russia, Turkey, Belarus and Europe.

Plays Well With Others is a unique duets album — one in which nearly every song is completely co-written and co-sung. Peter Bradley Adams, John Paul White, Dylan LeBlanc, Andrew Combs, Rodney Crowell, Shovels & Rope, JD McPherson, and Nicole Atkins all make appearances, working alongside Lera not only to perform these songs, but to create them, too.

Here’s what we’ve been hearing about Lera and Plays Well With Others:

"Lynn has long been a singular voice in roots music. Now, with a few new voices in the mix, hers somehow stands out more than ever."

-NPR Music

“Lera Lynn dropped a duets album that is worth obsessing over.”

“[‘Breakdown’ is] brisk, up-tempo and ruthless.”

-New York Times

“Stripping things back for simple country balladry or reveling in unusual combinations of chords for swirling, psychedelic effect. As ever, Lynn’s malleable voice shines.”

-Rolling Stone

“Lera Lynn has redefined the duet.”

"Her gorgeous Emmylou-like voice which wraps itself around the varied tone of her collaborators."

“"Every tune is a keeper, and like the best artists, she leaves you wanting more."

-American Songwriter

"On Plays Well With Others, Lynn and her collaborators are obviously enjoying themselves immensely. Fortunately for the rest of us, they brought some excellent new songs into the world in the process."

-No Depression

"Much like her previous efforts, Lynn’s fourth studio full-length is mounted with heightened tension and emotionally-charged exchanges. You hear these touchstones of familiarity throughout while still finding Lynn expand and explore new found territory—much of which can be attributed to the all-star cast of rootsy Americana acts she enlists on the darkly intimate and compelling Plays Well With Others."

-Wide Open Country

“It is as yet impossible to prove that Plays Well with Others has defined — or even refined — Lera Lynn's voice in any way. But it is absolute evidence that she can play on pretty much any field with any one, and play very, very well.”

-Folk Alley

“The album covers a lot of territory, but it’s all lashed together by Lynn’s knack for melding her beautiful vocals with those of a duet partner.”

-Nashville Scene

“She remains the quiet center of gravity throughout the record thanks to her voice.”

-All Music

“A stunner of a new record.”
