True Detective Breakout Singer Lera Lynn Announces Fall Headlining Tour
Rolling Stone Talks To Lynn About True Detective Experience, Upcoming Tour And What’s Next
August 10, 2015 – Lera Lynn has been in the center of a whirlwind for the past 12 months, and things will only get more intense as she heads out on a coast-to-coast headlining U.S. tour this fall. Lynn will perform September 17th at the Mercy in Nashville as part of the Americana Music Festival, and then start the tour’s West Coast and Southwest leg, including a show at the Troubadour in L.A. East Coast and Midwest dates are being confirmed and will be announced soon. Rolling Stone Country recently spoke to Lynn about her experience on True Detective, her upcoming tour and what’s next for her, read more here.
Lynn self-released her smoldering sophomore album The Avenues near the end of 2014, receiving praise from the likes of Rolling Stone, NPR All Things Considered, Billboard, the Wall Street Journal and American Songwriter, and appeared with her band on the Late Show with David Letterman earlier this year. Then the trailer for the second season of HBO’s True Detective aired, and one of the biggest questions on viewer’s minds (35 million and counting across YouTube, Vevo and Facebook) was who is singing the song featured in the clip? Who owned that unbelievable voice?
Fans soon found out the voice was Lynn’s, on the devastating track she co-wrote with T Bone Burnett and Roseanne Cash, "The Only Thing Worth Fighting For", which will also be featured on True Detective Music From The HBO Series, out August 14 via Electromagnetic Recordings/Harvest Records in partnership with HBO. Lynn was also featured as the recurring bar singer in True Detective, performing at "The Black Rose," the dingy dive bar where characters Ray and Frank often met to discuss their private business dealings. T Bone describes Lynn's role saying, "She's significant in there," and explains how "The Black Rose" and the scenes therein are "...the beating heart of the show... that bar is where True Detective happens. That's the psychosphere. Something feels very central about it." The song Lynn sings in last night's finale, “Lately,” will be available digitally Tuesday, August 11th.
