July 1, 2013 - CMT Edge has the premiere of Matrimony’s video for “Golden City,” a track with “a driving momentum” from the band’s new Columbia Records debut EP Montibello Drive.  Filmed in the band’s hometown of Charlotte, NC with director Jon Jon Augustavo, the video captures Matrimony’s friends, family and local haunts, providing a window into where they come from.  The band’s “passionate songs ooze with personality” (Paste), and “Golden City” is a perfect example, with a galloping beat and a chorus of “oh oh oh’s” belted at full volume.

Matrimony’s songs are based in rock structures, with rootsy embellishments like banjo and mandolin and an incredibly strong melodic sense, all of it wrapped up in tight familial harmonies.  Fronted by husband and wife Jimmy Brown (vocals, guitar) and Ashlee Hardee Brown (vocals, keyboards), the band is rounded out by Ashlee’s brothers Jordan Hardee (drums) and CJ Hardee (mandolin, banjo).  The family dynamic creates a deeply intuitive musical connection that can be heard on record and is even clearer during the band’s live shows.  Matrimony are already hometown favorites, with the Charlotte Observer calling them “one of the area’s best new bands….occasionally echoes the Arcade Fire’s musical recipe.”
