Hear The “Wild, Raw Energy” Of Ottoman Turks’ Raucous Debut At American Songwriter Ahead of Friday Release On State Fair Records

Hometown album release show at Granada Theatre in Dallas, TX this Friday, band will be in and around AmericanaFest in Nashville next month

August 21, 2019 - Ottoman Turks, the wild-eyed Dallas, TX rock & roll outfit, have created a debut album that “captures the wild, raw energy the Turks bring to the live stage, while showcasing their knack for hook-laden, cleverly arranged rock songwriting” (American Songwriter). Produced by John Pedigo (Old 97’s, Vandoliers, Joshua Ray Walker), the album lunges, leaps, claws and crawls. Sharp chords and riotous riffs are backed by artillery percussion. Wry lyrics meld with memorable choruses sung loud, often with close harmony. It's the type of band that would make Swami John Reis grin. Ottoman Turks is the band’s own brand of rock & roll mayhem, out this Friday on State Fair Records.

The Turks have been a band for a decade – starting with lead singer and songwriter Nathan Mongol Wells writing songs in the bathroom of his parents’ house before graduating to full band practice in the garage. As it so often does though, life got in the way of the band recording music. After nearly calling it quits following a disastrous show in 2018, the band was invited to play a new DFW-area venue and came away feeling as though they had just torn through the best show they’d ever played. A show at Dallas’ historic Granada Theatre followed soon after.

Twangville celebrates the band’s “cowpunk ferociousness,” while Rolling Stone recently highlighted lead single “Glass Bottles” as a “song to hear now” saying it “leads the charge,

updating one of the country music’s most treasured traditions — the drinking song — with self-deprecating humor and modern references to Facebook.”

Watch raucous and just plain old fun video for first single “Glass Bottles” here.

The band plays a hometown show this Friday at the Granada Theatre in Dallas, TX, and will be in and around AmericanaFest in Nashville, TN next month.
