Quaker City Night Hawks

Ft Worth, TX psychedelic heavy boogie rockers Quaker City Night Hawks released their new album QCNH last week. In a profile, Rolling Stone says "the Forth Worth, Texas, quartet’s most musically ambitious, scrubbing away the overdriven guitars of records past for a cleaner, rougher sound. There may be fewer UFO sightings, but QCNH stretches into several spaced-out interludes." A recent Fort Worth Weekly cover story highlighted “a catalog boiling over with over-driven, ’70s-vibin’, Texas-mythologizing boogie, blues, and heavy psyche." Hear thundering album standout “Hunter’s Moon” here.

Charley Crockett

2018 was a breakout year for Crockett. He released two albums in 2018, Lonesome As A Shadow and Lil G.L.’s Blue Bonanza via Son of Davy/Thirty Tigers, to critical praise. Crockett also appeared on the cover of American Way magazine and the Austin Chronicle in December. He also spoke to NPR All Things Considered during the final weekend of 2018, a wide-ranging interview where Crockett discussed his remarkable life, how busking on the streets for nearly a decade shaped his approach to music and Lil G.L.’s Blue Bonanza.

Crockett’s two shows in Austin will be his first after going through open-heart surgery in January to correct a recently discovered birth defect (Charley was born without one the valves in his heart). He’ll start a 2019 world tour in April, including headlining shows in the US, UK, Europe and Australia. The U.S. dates include appearances at Stagecoach, Newport Folk, Red Wing Roots and Braun Brothers Reunion festivals. Watch the video for “Good Time Charley’s Got The Blues here.
