September 19, 2014 – Rolling Stone Country has the premiere of the new video for Rose’s Pawn Shop’s “What Were You Waiting For,” a standout from their new album Gravity Well. Filmed in the band’s hometown of Los Angeles, the steamy video stars Friday Night Lights album Dora Madison Burge. The video depicts the ups-and-downs of a relationship, much like the song that soundtracks it. As Rose’s Pawn Shop’s Paul Givant told Rolling Stone, "the song is based on some experiences I've had with my own relationships. You love the person — there's so much you love about them — but you also know there's so much that's wrong about the relationship. It just can't be sustained, but for whatever reason, it takes more energy than you can muster to leave the relationship."
Rolling Stone also has some glowing praise for the band and their new album, which was produced by Ted Hutt (The Gaslight Anthem, Old Crow Medicine Show, Dropkick Murphys):
“Gravity Well is a blast of 21st century pickin'-party music, driven forward by five Californians who can howl, harmonize and finger-pick with all the confidence of their Nashville peers. The record explores darker territory, too, diving into a sound that doesn't conjure up a pickin' party as much as the post-midnight hour where that party finally comes to a close, with bleary-eyed attendees nursing the early stages of hangovers and regretting the decisions they made earlier in the evening.”
Rose’s Pawn Shop just kicked off their Fall tour this past weekend at Riot Fest Chicago, and they will also makes stops at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival and Yonder Mountain String Band’s Harvest Music Festival as part of their trek.
