Morrow Performing at FMQB Triple A Conference In August
June 18, 2018 – Sam Morrow will kick off a run of headlining dates next week, and he’s now announced a tour later this summer with Paul Cauthen. KCRW says Sam’s latest album Concrete and Mud “cements his place as a member of LA’s Country elite,” and the album has found success at Americana Radio as well. The album, out now on Forty Below Records) sits at #17 on the Americana Radio Albums chart, and lead single “Quick Fix” is #17 on the Americana Radio Singles chart. During the summer tour run, Morrow will also play the FMQB Triple A Conference on August 9th in Boulder, CO.
Concrete and Mud is a confident album, rooted in Texas twang, southern stomp, and old-school funky-tonk. Recorded largely live in the studio on a vintage Neve 8068 console with producer/engineer Eric Corne at the helm, it also shines a light on Morrow's strength as a songwriter, front-man, and bandleader.
Here’s what we’ve been hearing about Morrow and Concrete and Mud:
“Sam Morrow's third album cements his place as a member of LA’s Country elite.”
“Concrete And Mud’s vibe is less sunshine and palm trees and more in line with the hard surfaces and grit of it’s album title…Morrow pairs his brawny voice and tales of life at the margins with brittle funk grooves and greasy slide guitar licks."
“Steeped in southern swagger, Concrete and Mud is Morrow’s arrival as one of SoCal’s premiere country-rock troubadours.”
“Concrete and Mud, displays the confidence, mastery, and winsomeness of an artist who knows exactly who he is, what he wants to say, and what he is doing. The set marks the moment Morrow rightfully claims his place among the very best that country and Americana have to offer.”
“Should be on the radar of anyone who loves greasy, crunchy, deep-fried Southern rock”
“Swampy riffs, irresistible grooves and Morrow's gravelly, growly vocals provide the backbone for the tune [“Quick Fix”], which is all about the cheap pleasure of instant gratification.”
- The Boot
“Concrete and Mud finds the 27-year-old artist exploring his myriad influences, including Texas country, Southern rock, and old-school funk.”
"Concrete and Mud is both his most fun and most exciting to date."
“The Texas native’s third album, last month’s Concrete and Mud, is his most complete yet, reflecting the often somber moods of his first two records and his more upbeat, funky, rockin’ live show.”
