New Album Hits #1 on Billboard Jazz and Contemporary Jazz Charts & #4 on Heatseekers

Band Makes SXSW Debut in March Headlining GroundUP Music Showcase

February 22, 2016 –  “D.I.Y. juggernaut” (New York Times) Snarky Puppy continue their banner 2016. Last week, the Brooklyn collective won their 2nd GRAMMY for their 2015 album Sylva with Metropole Orkest. Today, the band’s latest album Family Dinner Volume Two debuts at #1 on Billboard’s Jazz and Contemporary Jazz album charts and #4 on the Heatseeker chart. Recorded live in front of an audience in New Orleans, Family Dinner Volume Two features collaborations with David Crosby, Susana Baca, Salif Keita, Laura Mvula and Becca Stevens among others. Family Dinner Volume Two was released via Snarky Puppy’s own GroundUP Music label in a unique partnership with Universal Music Classics.

After a string of South American dates, Snarky Puppy’s world tour will bring them to Austin, TX for SXSW. They will headline a GroundUP Music showcase at Cedar Street Courtyard on March 19 that will also feature GroundUP artists Cory Henry, Bill Laurance and Michelle Willis.  Snarky Puppy will then kick off the North American leg of their 2016 world tour with a performance at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Fest.

Here’s what we’ve been hearing about Snarky Puppy and Family Dinner Volume Two:

“A barnstorming, groove-centric instrumental act with a rabid fan base and a blithely unplaceable style. And if the name doesn’t ring a bell, it’s probably just a matter of time.”

-New York Times

“One of the more versatile groups on the planet right now.”

-Rolling Stone

“Sounds like one spotless collection of intricate musics performed by just one very skilled, albeit extended, band.”

-Yahoo Music

“[‘Liquid Love’] commences with a bloom of strut-worthy frequencies, dissolving into a creeping Dilla-esque vamp with Turner’s voice stretching out and guiding the way through and through.”

“This second helping is a culmination of diverse musicians, from electronic music duo KNOWER to 74-year-old rock'n'roller David Crosby, bringing out each other's strengths.”

-Cool Hunting
