Rising Boston duo Tall Heights just released their new EP Holding On, Holding Out on Friday, and they will continue to reach a wide audience when they tape the nationally syndicated NPR Mountain Stage on November 1st (alongside Craig Finn and Rayland Baxter). The booking comes on the heels of a recent appearance on NPR World Café. Host David Dye calls Holding On, Holding Out “wonderful” and a “real evolution” for the duo.
The Boston Herald say Tall Heights “spearhead a rising Boston scene” alongside Darlingside and the Ballroom Thieves. The Wall Street Journal say of “Spirit Cold,” the stunning first single from the new EP, “in addition to finger-picked guitar, swelling cello and tight, prismatic vocal harmonies, ‘Spirit Cold’ boasts a bold, airy drum part that propels the song through the peaks and troughs of the arrangement.”
Non-comm powerhouse XPN made “Spirit Cold” their “My Morning Download” today, saying “Tall Heights are reminiscent of bands like Bon Iver and Fleet Foxes, yet they have their own unique, and beguiling, moody indie-folk sensibility with instrumentation that includes guitar, cello and various electronics.”
Tall Heights are currently in the middle of a coast-to-coast U.S. fall tour, full list of tour dates here.
