Thanks To Coca-Cola And Starbucks, Wendy Colonna Brings Her Music To The Masses

Nectar Track Playing In Starbucks Nationwide, New Original Song Soundtracks Coca-Cola Ad, Watch Here:

May 28, 2014 - Wendy Colonna – the Austin-based singer and songwriter whose new album Nectar is full of “unadulterated beauty” (No Depression) – is taking her music to a much wider audience thanks to some help from Starbucks and Coca-Cola. Nectar standout “The Water’s Fine” has been added to playlists in Starbucks stores across the country.  In addition, a new Coca-Cola ad featuring a track that Colonna wrote specifically for the commercial is already airing on TV, online and in cinemas across the country.  This comes on the heels of praise for Colonna and Nectar from the Wall Street Journal, No Depression, Engine 145, The Bluegrass Situation and many more.  It’s quite a turn of events for an artist who almost quit music after battling back from an eight-month illness.

Colonna recently stopped by taste-making NYC radio station WFUV to chat and play songs from Nectar, stream the full session here:

In his SXSW preview, the Wall Street Journal’s Jim Fusilli put Wendy alongside much buzzed about names like John Fullbright, Jessica Lea Mayfield, Parker Milsap, Shakey Graves and Sturgill Simpson, “a slew of gifted country-influenced singer-songwriters” who performed this year in Austin.

Colonna has become a standout in her adopted hometown of Austin, TX, and Nectar found its way onto year–end “Best Of” lists at the Austin American-Statesman and the Austin Chronicle.  The album is filled with songs about surrender, mortality and redemption.  Nectar came together after Colonna’s recovery from an eight-month illness, at a point when she was almost ready to give up her music career.  The record bares these scars, showing the grace and surrender that went into Colonna surviving and succeeding.
